Physical Education Substitution
Liberty Hill ISD allows private or commercial physical education substitutions at Junior High and High School. The district is accepting applications, submitted by a parent/guardian, to award physical education credit for appropriate activity programs conducted off campus.

For the 2013-14 school  year, the parent/guardian must submit the completed packet to the Curriculum Director by July 10, 2013.

LHISD, Eanes On Top in Austin Area
Only two school districts in the Austin area - Liberty Hill and Eanes - met federal progress standards both overall and at every campus, according to a recent article in the Austin American Statesman.

The federal Adequate Yearly Progress standards are based on participation and performance on state assessments, graduation rates, and attendance. LHISD has met AYP standards each year since progress standards for the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 were implemented.

Statewide, 48 percent of campuses did not meet federal standards. Local schools that missed AYP include Austin, Round Rock, Leander, Pflugerville, Hays, Hutto, Dripping Springs, Lake Travis, and Georgetown.

A Texas Education Agency "RECOGNIZED, CHARACTER PLUS" DISTRICT
Liberty Hill is a rural community in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, 30 miles northwest of Austin. The 100 square miles of the school district is located entirely within western Williamson County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state as well as the nation. Administration, faculty, and staff are committed to excellence in all programs to improve student outcomes and enhance the school experience for all students.

LHISD Receives "Recognized" Rating
The Texas Education Agency awarded LHISD and each campus with a "Recognized" rating for the 2010-11 school year. The ratings are based on high school completion rates, dropout rates, and passing rates on the TAKS test. For more information about TAKS, accountability, and state-wide results,

Author Visits High School
The junior class and a select group of top readers at Liberty Hill High School enjoyed a visit from outstanding Young Adult author Rick Yancey.

Mr. Yancey, the author of 13 novels and a memoir and recipient of numerous accolades for his writing, spoke on May 15 as part of a nationwide tour coinciding with the release of his new novel The 5th Wave, the first in an epic sci-fi trilogy that has already been optioned for a movie. Following his book talk, Mr. Yancey answered questions from the students and signed copies of his book for students who had them.

This unique opportunity was sponsored by Perma-Bound Books. The entire event was organized cooperatively by Kaye Langerhans, Perma-Bound representative, and Deanne Vance, LHHS Librarian.

    CScope Lessons
On Monday, the Texas ESC Curriculum Collaborative announced that it is no longer developing lessons for CScope. The impact on LHISD is limited since the lessons were available as a resource, not a requirement.

As stated in the LHISD Employee Handbook, teachers in the four core subject areas are expected to closely follow the Year at a Glance, Vertical Alignment, Instructional Focus Documents, and Units of Study provided in CSCOPE. Expectations for lesson planning and common assessments have not changed.

    New STAAR Test
